H-Town is the place to be this weekend as the Sneaker Summit slowly creeps upon us. The Sneaker Summit, established in 2004, has started from humble beginnings to become one of the largest community based sneaker events in the world. Several special celebrity guest have been in attendance such as A$AP Rocky, Scarface, Curren$y, Pusha T and Bun B. There are also very notable sneaker designers that usually show face. Sponsored by big name corporations like Reebok, Mountain Dew and Diamond Supply, this year's event and celebration of sneakers is sure to be better than the last. Tickets are available here.
Releasing in stores today is none other than a new unique colorway of the Nike Kobe 9 EM sneakers. The Nike Kobe 9 EM "Hyper Cobalt" sneaker carries an engineered mesh upper and a hyper cobalt midsole. The sneaker bodes a hyper cobalt & white hyper blue colorway throughout with gold branding from Nike and Kobe's Black Mamba wanted to make that known. These sneakers are set to release today Friday, July 25th for $160. Make sure you check your local stores such as FootAction, Footlocker, Finishline, Champs and other Nike Kobe 9 retailers for your pair in-store or online.
Very seldom will you find a pair of kicks like this to get love from the sneaker community. I mean, let's be realistic, if they aren't Yeezy's, are they really worth the ticket? Christian Dior is defying those odds with his latest designer water shoes known as "Dior Fusion". My personal take on these? Perfect for the runway, not so perfect for public. But hey, to each his own. The Dior fusion runs for $1100. Think it's worth it? Let us know.
The list of OG's that are making a comeback just continues to grow. Well now we can add another to the list. In addition to the Shaqs and the Ewings, next up is the Etonic "Akeem The Dream", Hakeem Olajuwon's signature sneaker. The sneakers pay homage to the Rockets with a Houston inspired colorway. The high top build and the premium leather screams the shoe's original release decade: the 80s. They'll be available at Packer shoes before you know it.
Care for some leather anyone? KITH and Puma have come up with an "Achromatic" masterpiece for the streets. The shoes are composed of Italian (Yes, Italian) leather. Smooth and chic would be an understatement. These kicks are supporting a simple and elegant look, so branding was not used in the design. You could probably walk in a church with these and still be on your Sunday's best. Get ready for the Kith x Dover Street Market x Puma XT-2 “Achromatic” Pack this Saturday July 26 exclusively at KITH and All Dover Street Market stores.
Saucony and Bodega are collaborating yet again to create something sweet for your feet. The Saucony G9 Shadow 6 blends a dark tealish green with purple polka dots (kind of like Barney). The midsole is tan and off white featuring a triangular pattern. This shoe in particular is only half of the pack. The Polka Dot pack also includes the Saucony Grid 9000. Look out for these on August 9th.
Promo pairs of the Nike Stefan Janoski "Beach Picnic" have been floating around in the hands of a few very lucky sneaker lovers. The shoe features a pattern that reminds you of the sandiest place you'll ever go. It includes beach balls, volleyball nets, bicycles, and umbrellas-- things you would normally see at the beach. The tan overall color represents the endless sand. What a way to celebrate summer! Unfortunately these have yet to reach retailers, but good luck if you're looking!
Jordan Future has kept it's promise and continued to keep the colorways rolling in. Next up in the "Sport Blue". This color is pretty common on Jordans, but new to the Future franchise. The shoes sport a greyish/white upper with a sport blue sole. Correct me if I'm wrong but, they sort of remind me of Air Jordan 18s. Either way, I'm sure whenever these release, they'll be a favorite.
Ewing Athletics has been doing a superior job of releasing their various line of sneakers in "must-have" and standout colorways. They aren't straying away from that by any means as they bring consumers the Ewing Center "Georgetown" sneaker. Paying homage to his alma mater, the Ewing Center boasts the infamous Georgetown Hoya grey and navy blue colors. According to Ewing Athletics the sneaker will make its debut sometime in August. Keep it locked to SneakerThirst for updates as they become available with an official price and release date!
